Natural Learning
Natural learning refers to a type of learning-on-demand where children pursue knowledge based on their interests. Teachers and/or parents take an active part in facilitating activities and experiences conducive to learning but do not rely heavily on textbooks. They do not spend much time "teaching"--looking instead for "learning moments" throughout daily activities and experiences. In natural schooling the teacher or parent's role is support and modeling, and the child's role is asking and learning.
Natural learning and holistic learning are components in many progressive education movements including Montessori, Waldorf, Unschooling, Home Schooling, Nature-based Schooling, and Free/Democratic Schooling.
